EASY DIY CAKE FLOUR
Why go buy it when you can easily make it?
Cake Flour is often a very important ingredient in many cakes, especially with many sponge/chiffon cakes. Your cake will taste fluffier, lighter, and have a little crumb to it. It's not available in many countries so here's the recipe on how to make it and save money on cake flour!
Ingredients:
1 cup - 2 tbsp all purpose flour (125 grams - 16 grams)
2 tbsp corn starch (19 grams)
You will also need: a sieve
Cake Flour
1. Measure out 1 cup of flour. Remove 2 tablespoons.
2. Add in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Cornstarch has less protein and will help make the flour lighter.
3. Sift this mixture at least once, but it's best if you sift it twice. You can sift up to 5 times, for the "most ideal" cake flour, since sifting will incorporate air and remove some of the protein.
4. Store in an airtight container and use it when needed! Come back and make more when you run out!
